City photos of updated First Hill Park and Roanoke Park

A lot is happening with Mercer Island city parks, thanks in part to the generosity of Island voters, who approved the 2023 parks levy.

1. The Parks and Recreation Commission is working on a site plan for Deane’s Children’s Park (Dragon Park) playground.

2. Plans are being drafted to update Groveland and Clarke Beach parks

3. Significant upgrades are underway for the Luther Burbank waterfront. The boiler building has already been updated and structurally strengthened to facilitate use as a waterfront recreation center. And later this year the docks will be completely replaced.

4. A renovated First Hill Park playground is now open!

5. Roanoke Park opened its new playground in September.

The Parks and Recreation Commission is also currently working with the Open Space Conservancy Trust to discuss possible regulations on e-bikes in parks. (E-motorcycles are already banned in parks.)
