R.I.P. Chester

Chester, The Orange King
May 10, 2010 - December 24, 2025
The Flamingo Estates neighborhood lost its most regal resident and self-appointed guardian on Christmas Eve, as Chester, the "Spicy Orange King," began his far too early final nap.
Chester was far more than a house cat; he was a local dignitary with a voice he wasn't afraid to use. Known for his "spirited" conversations, Chester spent his days visiting his subjects, offering vocal greetings (and the occasional critique), as well as complaints about the underwhelming attentiveness of his domestic servants.
A fierce protector of the homestead, Chester took his role as Garden Sentinel seriously. He was the sworn enemy of the "garden scourge," successfully purging the grounds of rabbits, rats, and any other four-legged threats to the family harvest. His only weakness in the field was the catnip plant, which he did not protect so much as colonize, frequently seen rolling in it with unregal abandon.

Chester was a cat of refined tastes and uncompromising standards. He famously eschewed "stale" bowl water, considering it a beverage for lesser creatures; instead, he demanded his water "live" and fresh, as befitted his royal status.
He now joins his beloved partner-in-crime, Scaredy, across the Rainbow Bridge. He was preceded in death by several other family members whom he graciously tolerated over the years: Sophie, Tiger, Patches, and Wilson.
The neighborhood is a little quieter, and the garden a little less guarded. Chester leaves behind a legacy of orange fur, loud opinions, and a void that no ordinary cat could fill.
Rest well, King Chester. The rabbits are on notice.
